COVID-19 turned our world upside down, but Arlington Free Clinic remained steadfast, continuing to provide comprehensive healthcare to 1,600 of our low-income, uninsured neighbors. Then, to ensure that those most at risk of being overlooked during this challenging season would have a staunch ally, AFC stepped up as an active safety-net leader in the areas of COVID-19 testing, outreach, education, and vaccination.

The arrival of vaccines has brought hope and the beginning of a return to “life as normal” for many. But AFC recognizes that our patients have been disproportionately affected and will likely take years to recover from the virus’ far-reaching effects. Our patients still need us, and we need you.

Our Path Forward

Our patient community has been especially hard-hit by COVID-19. The zip code where the majority of our patients live (22204) has consistently experienced positive test rates of more than double that of any other zip code in our county. Many of our patients have one or more chronic diseases, like diabetes or cancer, that place them at high risk of complications should they become infected. Most lost their jobs in the early days of the crisis, magnifying needs for resources “beyond the exam room” – which AFC has worked hard to address.

AFC will use the critical funds raised through our Virtual Benefit Gala to spread healing and hope, and to light the path forward for our neighbors most in need.

Why AFC needs you

While we’re unable to gather together for our traditional 750-attendee in-person event, our patients still need us and we need you.

AFC is a primarily privately-funded 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We receive no federal funding and less than 10% of our budget comes from public sources.

We count on our Annual Benefit Gala to raise 25% of our $3M annual operating budget.
